NetEase Technology News reported on August 26 that Ma Huateng, chairman and CEO of Tencent, said in a speech at the Chongqing Smart Expo that the current main arena of industrial competition is gradually changing from "singles" PK to "double" competitions. The competition in the real industry is no longer a one-on-one affair. Various real industries are integrating with the information industry to form new partners to participate in the competition.

On September 30 last year, Tencent announced a new round of strategic upgrades and organizational structure adjustments, proposing to "root in the consumer Internet and embrace the industrial Internet", hoping to become an assistant in the digital transformation and upgrading of all walks of life.

As an example, he said that the automobile industry is facing major changes unseen in a century. The application of 5G technology, the implementation of artificial intelligence, the replacement of new energy, and the governance of smart cities are promoting cross-border collaboration, especially the integration and innovation of the information industry and the automotive industry, building a new Internet of Vehicles ecosystem.

Ma Huateng said that in the past year, the resistance to global economic and industrial development has increased, but it has also stimulated the resilience of the Chinese economy and the potential of the digital industry.

Ma Huateng believes that in the past few decades, the rapid development of China's economy and industry has mainly benefited from extensional expansion. In the next few decades, China must unleash its innovation potential in order to achieve high-quality development. In the face of economic transformation and industrial upgrading, we need to continuously stimulate innovation potential and create more "hit products."

Ma Huateng also said that climbing the "Mount Everest" of technology and industry often relies on the "technological community" and "global industrial ecology." Tencent hopes to invest more in scientific research and actively participate in the co-construction of the "global science and technology community" through internal and external open source methods.

It is understood that the Tencent Southwest Headquarters Building located in Chongqing Liangjiang Digital Economic Industrial Park was officially opened on August 25 and can accommodate 3,000 employees. Since 2013, Tencent has begun investing in the construction of the Tencent (Chongqing) Cloud Computing Data Center in Chongqing, with a total investment of more than 10 billion yuan. It is currently working on the second phase of construction, which will become the largest single data center in the western region upon completion.

Tencent and Changan Automobile announced the establishment of a joint innovation center in April this year. At this year's Smart Expo, Changan Automobile joined hands with Tencent to jointly showcase a series of intelligent construction achievements such as the Wutong Tinnove system with WeChat in-vehicle version function and Tencent's smart 4S store solution.

Tencent is also using digital technology and content platforms in Chongqing to try to turn important cultural heritage into cultural IP that everyone loves to hear and see. During the Smart Expo, the "Visit Wulong on a Mobile Phone" WeChat applet jointly developed by Tencent and Wulong District of Chongqing was officially launched, which can provide "one-stop" service functions such as smart tours, ticket bookings, route customization, and complaints. Next, Tencent will also support the construction of smart tourism in Nanchuan District.

In response to cybercrime issues such as communication information fraud, Tencent 110 and the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau Cyber Security Corps jointly established the country's first regional "Network Security Publicity Center" in April this year. By building a network security campus alliance, holding offline activities, online publicity and education and other multi-dimensional publicity matrices, the general public's awareness and ability to recognize and prevent fraud have been enhanced. As of the first half of 2019, the Tencent 110 team based in Chongqing has served a total of 75.18 million users, accepted 23.93 million user reports, assisted the police in transferring 72 judicial cases, arrested 1,663 criminal suspects, and involved 200 million yuan in funds.

Tencent presented an exhibition area of 1,150 square meters at this Smart Expo. The display content is mainly divided into two parts: technology and culture. Among them, the science and technology exhibition area focuses on Tencent’s intelligent accumulation of big data, bringing together digital Chongqing, smart government affairs, smartBusiness areas such as travel, smart retail, smart cultural tourism, and artificial intelligence. It is worth mentioning that Tencent explores the potential and value of "culture + technology", closely integrates Chongqing Bayu culture, and implants "intangible cultural heritage" cultural IP into digital content popular among young people such as games and animations, injecting vitality into traditional culture.

The following is the full text of Ma Huateng’s speech:

Dear leaders, distinguished guests and friends from the media, good morning!

I am very honored to come to Chongqing Smart Expo again! The congratulatory letter read out by the chief minister just now, as well as the speeches of several leaders, foreign guests and experts, made me feel even more about our responsibility and mission in fighting on the front line of the industry. When I came to Chongqing this time, I found that the Smart Expo is iterating rapidly like Internet products. Compared with last year, this year's Smart Expo has more and more heavyweight international guests, its technology products are more cutting-edge, and it also adds 5G and other scenario experiences. The wave of technological innovation is pushing Chongqing, a city of mountains and rivers, towards the blue ocean of "digital industrialization and industrial digitization".

In the past year, Tencent's projects in Chongqing have also been advancing rapidly: first, our new southwest headquarters building was officially put into use yesterday and can accommodate 3,000 employees in the future; second, at noon today, Tencent and Chongqing Changan Automobile will jointly release important phased results; third, Tencent's Western Cloud Computing Data Center, with an investment of more than 10 billion yuan, is stepping up its second phase of construction. Fourth, the "Visit Wulong with a Mobile Phone" mini program was officially launched today; next, we will also help Nanchuan District build a smart tourism platform; explore the use of digital technology and content platforms to turn precious cultural heritage such as the Dazu Rock Carvings into cultural IP.

In just one year, the changes in Chongqing are exciting. We see that new driving forces are rapidly gathering to promote high-quality economic and social development. The Smart Expo demonstrates Chongqing’s transformation and upgrading and also reflects an aspect of China’s development. In the past year, international trade frictions have increased resistance to global economic and industrial development, and also stimulated the resilience of China's economy and the potential of its digital industry. Under such circumstances, how do we respond to the new round of technological and industrial revolution? I would like to share some of my opinions with you from the perspective of a front-line practitioner in the industry.

First of all, the main arena of industrial competition is gradually changing from the past "singles" PK to "double" competitions. In the past, business competition was often fought alone around vertically segmented industries. Today, when informatization, the biggest variable, begins to integrate into all walks of life, the way of industrial competition is changing: the vertical and deep physical industries are combined with the horizontally extending information industry to form a new criss-crossing partnership. Industrial competition has evolved into a "double" competition.

The "integration of informatization and informatization" proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology very early has important strategic significance. We believe that the industrial Internet is an important carrier and breakthrough point for the "integration of informatization and informatization". For example, the automobile industry is facing major changes unseen in a century. The application of 5G technology, the implementation of artificial intelligence, the replacement of new energy, and the governance of smart cities are promoting cross-border collaboration, especially the integration and innovation of the information industry and the automotive industry, building a new Internet of Vehicles ecosystem.

In the past year, Tencent and Chongqing Changan Automobile have continued to work together and are becoming a good partner in the development of intelligent connected vehicles. We not only want to realize the intelligent connection between "people-cars-stores-factory", but also promote the intelligent network upgrade of the entire automobile industry chain. At the same time, we jointly established the "Wutong Automobile Alliance" joint venture, launched an Internet of Vehicles operating system equipped with Tencent's ecological service capabilities, and opened it to major automobile manufacturers. Today at noon, we will work with Changan to demonstrate the new voice-interactive WeChat in-vehicle version on the upcoming new car.. Yesterday afternoon, in this exhibition area, we gave Vice Premier Liu He the first public demonstration of the full voice interaction experience using the WeChat car version.

Second, in the face of economic transformation and industrial upgrading, we need to continuously stimulate innovation potential and create more "hit products." In the past few decades, China's rapid economic and industrial development has mainly benefited from extensional expansion. In the next few decades, if China wants to achieve high-quality development, it must unleash its innovative potential. Today's Chinese industry needs more fighting spirit. Only by maximizing our innovation potential can we turn "challenges" into "opportunities."

Last year, Tencent carried out a new round of strategic upgrades and proposed "rooting in the consumer Internet and embracing the industrial Internet." We have also carried out organizational changes at the same time, hoping that the team can adapt to changes and challenges in the external environment and stimulate innovation potential. In the past year, we have accepted many unprecedented tasks and challenges. For example, Tencent is deeply involved in the construction of "digital government". With the tenacity of burning the midnight oil, we have gradually explored the intensive construction of "large platform, small front-end, and rich ecology". This year, Tencent further proposed the construction concept of "WeCity Future City", hoping to build "digital government affairs", "urban governance", "urban decision-making" and "industrial interconnection" into a complete smart solution.

Third, climbing the "Mount Everest" of technology and industry often relies on the "technological community" and "global industrial ecology." Just as 5G is not a single technology, but a series of technological innovations that require a "joint mountaineering team" to conquer. Today, no country has all the resources, technologies and capabilities required for a new round of global technological and industrial revolution. Industrial fragmentation and technological decoupling will harm the long-term interests of mankind as a whole. From this, we can more clearly see China’s strategic determination and foresight in comprehensively deepening reform and opening up.

Tencent hopes to invest more in scientific research and incorporate "technology for good" into the company's new mission and vision. We will actively participate in the co-construction of the "global science and technology community" through internal and external open source code.

In Chongqing, an emerging technological hotspot, we feel that there is a spirit of "time waits for no one, dare to think and dare to fight". In the face of economic transformation and industrial upgrading, this is exactly the fighting atmosphere and innovation environment we need. Tencent's southwest headquarters will be deeply rooted here and grow together with Chongqing. It will definitely "empower the economy and add color to life" and help Chongqing's "landscapes become more beautiful, culture more elegant, and industries more valuable."

Finally, I wish this Smart Expo a complete success! Thank you all!
