Google+ development in doubt: Director Gundotra will leave
In a blog post, Gundotra praised his colleagues at Google and Google CEO Larry Page. He wrote: "I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with such amazing people at Google. I believe that there is no place with more passionate talents than here." Gundotra also expressed his gratitude to Page because "he fully empowered me when I was at Google."
Gundotra is a major contributor to Google+ and has always defended the platform despite all the criticism. He said in an interview in 2012: "Not only is Google+ not a 'ghost town,' we have never even seen a business growing so fast before." According to people familiar with the matter, Google Vice President of Engineering David Besbris (David Besbris) is expected to take over Google+. While Google+ vice president of product Bradley Horowitz won't be heading up the unit, he's also expected to be promoted.
