Peng Weiyong, deputy director of the Sports Economics Department of the State Sports General Administration, introduced at the meeting the good development momentum of my country's sports industry in the five years since the release of "Document No. 46" ("Several Opinions on Accelerating the Development of the Sports Industry and Promoting Sports Consumption"). Peng Weiyong said that the work of the national sports industry base must first further clarify its positioning and highlight the characteristics of the industry; secondly, it must strengthen integration with other industries to form an extended industrial chain, enhance industrial value, and form industrial agglomeration; thirdly, it must further change concepts and do a good job in service management.

Peng Weiyong said that in the next step, the sports industry work will focus on the detailed implementation of industrial policies, further deepen sports reform and release development potential; further implement the "sports +" action to promote integrated development; further strengthen demonstration leadership and create a development carrier; further consolidate the industrial foundation and improve service levels; promote the sports industry to gradually become a pillar industry of the national economy, and contribute more to the construction of a strong sports country and the construction of a healthy China.

In 2019, the member units of the National Sports Industry Base added 9 new demonstration bases, 18 demonstration units and 25 demonstration projects.

It is reported that since 2006, through the joint efforts of the State Sports General Administration and sports departments at all levels across the country, the scale of the national sports industry base has continued to expand. Currently, 45 demonstration bases with district and county-level people's governments as the main body have been named, recognizing that 73 demonstration units with sports enterprises and institutions as the main body were identified, and 53 demonstration projects with sports events as the main body were identified, involving competition performances, sports training, fitness and leisure, sports and tourism integration, venue services, supplies manufacturing, media technology and other industrial fields.

Wang Ping, deputy director of the Sports Equipment and Equipment Center of the State Sports General Administration, said that after more than ten years of unremitting efforts, the role of the industrial base in cultivating diverse entities, strengthening leadership demonstrations, and standardizing industry construction has initially emerged.

At the meeting, the organizers awarded licenses to the new batch of national sports industry demonstration base member units.
